EXPERIMENT 001

Built on DOOM.

This is an experimental browser VR adaptation of DOOM, using the three-doom port by mrdoob. It runs the real game logic and renders its world in 3D. It is not a video or a virtual cinema screen.

Original DOOM © id Software. Only the unmodified shareware Episode 1 data is included. No commercial full-game WAD is provided. This project is not affiliated with id Software, Bethesda, Google, or Meta.

Engine and adaptation source: GPL version 2. Three.js: MIT. Pairing uses ws and node-qrcode, both MIT.

Phone mode uses local motion sensors and configurable side-by-side stereo. WebXR mode uses the browser’s immersive VR API. Physical headset fit and performance vary; the lens sliders are experimental, not a calibrated Daydream profile.

The PC relays game controls. Camera access is never requested. Optional voice chat asks for microphone permission on your PC only after you enable it; hold your chosen push-to-talk key to speak. Voice and optional preview images pass through the server in memory and are not recorded. Game audio plays on the phone or headset; voice plays on the PC.

Private pairing codes connect your PC to your own display. Three-letter co-op room links let friends request admission; the room owner approves each player. Up to four players can play together with friendly fire. Rooms are temporary, and codes can be reused after closing. Sessions expire after one idle hour or four hours total.
