VR PREVIEW

Quake

Real stereo views, head aiming, the original weapon and status bar. Choose a skill level, pair your display, and enter the Slipgate Complex.

Which files do I need?

Select pak0.pak and, for the full game, pak1.pak from the original Quake id1 folder. The original shareware pak0.pak also works. In a modern store install, look for the original game folder, not the remaster's rerelease folder.

Choose them on your PC. They are sent through the private connection to your paired display and held in browser memory. They are never published or saved on the server. Reselect them after reloading the PC page.

This first Quake build is single-player. Original campaign data only; mission packs, mods, CD music, save/load menus and co-op are not included. Headset fit and performance still need testing on your device.

NOT PLAYABLE HERE YET

These are the next candidates. Browser versions and native headset versions have different requirements; the links below explain the available routes.

NEEDS A VR PORT

Duke Nukem 3D

A browser port exists. Bringing it into this lab still needs stereo rendering, head aiming, and controller pairing. It will need your original DUKE3D.GRP game file.

NEEDS A VR PORT

Half-Life

WebXash can run the original game in a browser using your valve game files. Stereo VR and our phone/PC controls need a separate integration. It is not ready to launch here.

ENGINE WORK REQUIRED

Star Wars: Dark Forces

The Force Engine is a modern replacement for the original game engine. We still need a working browser VR build and your original game data before adding a playable version.

NATIVE PC VR OPTION

Star Wars Episode I: Racer

A community OpenXR mod adds stereo views and head tracking to the Windows game. It requires the original game and a PC VR headset setup; it does not run in the Pixel browser viewer.

NATIVE VR OPTION

Myst

The modern 3D remake already supports VR on supported platforms. That is the version to use for walking inside Myst's world. It is a separate installed game, not a Pixel browser experience.

Myst VR from Cyan ↗

Commercial game files are not included. A browser port alone does not provide immersive VR. Only the games in “Play in this browser” have a playable integration in this lab.
